Explore Santa Barbara
At the age of 10, Brian’s parents told him they would be moving from St. Louis, MO to Santa Barbara, CA. He knew nothing of this place and was upset to leave behind his friends and familiar hometown. After his parents brought him out to visit for the first time, it was within 5 minutes of landing here that he was sold. That appreciation has deepened and grown into his adult years with the realization that few (if any) cities in the world offer this combination of tropical setting, culture, wine country, quality restaurants and innumerable outdoor activities.
We hope you have a chance to check out some of our favorite local spots while you’re visiting. Whether you are looking to get boozy on the Urban Wine Trail, kayak the Sea Caves at the Channel Islands, or just relax on the beach, Santa Barbara offers something for everyone.

extend your stay
Santa Barbara is within striking distance of many other beautiful places if you want to see more of Southern California and extend your trip before or after the wedding.
santa ynez VALLEY
A short and stunning drive through the San Marcos Pass, the Santa Ynez Valley has over 120 wineries, many boutique hotels and incredible restaurants. Erin grew up visiting her aunt and uncle here, and it remains one of her favorite places. We recommend Los Olivos as a day trip or overnight destination, with a tasting or two at Beckman, Sunstone or Stolpman, and a champagne cupcake at Enjoy.
ojai
Less than an hour from Santa Barbara, Ojai offers small town vibes, excellent dining and plenty of outdoorsy opportunities in the Los Padres National Forest and surrounding mountains. Relax at the Ojai Valley Inn, bike through the vineyards or saddle up for a horseback ride.
paso robles
An incredibly scenic 2+ hour drive up thee coast from Santa Barbara is where you’ll find Paso Robles. This sleepy and unassuming town boasts one of the best wine regions in the state. Moreover, Hearst Castle is just a 20 minute drive away. If any of you get the itch to come here then do let us know so we can give you our personal recommendations for wineries and restaurants.
